Can Artificial Intelligence (AI) Replace Designers/Artists?

Why can't Midjourney or ChatGPT or any other AI (artificial intelligence) easily replace creative motion designers?

Creativity:

Creating meaningful motion graphics requires creativity and imagination. AI can help us with information but it doesn't have the same creative abilities as motion designers.

Motion Design Skills:

Motion design requires specific graphical skills, such as color theory, typography, composition, and conceptual thinking rather than only generic skills and knowledge of using after effects.

Understanding client needs:

A good motion should effectively convey a brand's mission and vision. This requires understanding the client's brand identity and business goals, which are difficult to understand without speaking to the client directly.

Trustworthiness:

For example, a survey conducted by Google in 2021 found that
85% of clients prefer motion designs designed by animators/designers, and only 6% of respondents prefer animations created by AI.

Customization:

Designers consider the specific needs and preferences of each client & able to create motion/animation. AI-generated motions may lack this type of customization.

Attention to detail:

Designers are able to pay close attention to the use of color, typography, and composition. Motion designers are able to understand from long experience how motion will be used in different media and applications where AI is far away to fulfill its needs.

Artificial intelligence is a powerful tool for simplifying the design process, but motion design requires creativity and personal touch that AI is not yet capable of.
